In the neighborhood

What we do after the doors close.

An independent pharmacy is part of its neighborhood, not a logo on a strip mall. Below are the standing community programs we run year-round in La Palma and the wider Orange County / South LA area. No ribbon-cuttings.

Standing commitments

Six programs we run, every year.

Every Thursday · 4–6 pm

Free blood-pressure clinic.

Walk-in, no appointment. A pharmacist reads your pressure, talks through your medications, and either sends you home or sends a note to your doctor. Open to anyone — patients of Phoenix or not.

Quarterly · Saturdays

Drug-take-back days.

Residents drop off expired or unused medications, including controlled substances. We partner with local police for chain-of-custody and DEA-compliant disposal. No questions, no judgment.

August · annually

Back-to-school physicals.

We host a one-day clinic with a partnering family-medicine practice — sports physicals, immunization catch-ups, Tdap boosters. Free for families on Medi-Cal or without insurance.

October · senior flu drive

Mobile flu clinic for seniors.

Two pharmacists, one technician, one van, four senior centers across La Palma and Cerritos in a single weekend. We bring the doses, the paperwork, and the cookies.

Year-round

La Palma Community Center sponsorship.

We sponsor senior wellness programming at the LPCC across the street: monthly nutrition talks, a falls-prevention seminar series, and the Tuesday morning chair yoga that's somehow always packed.

November – December

Patient assistance fund.

Patients who can't afford a critical medication during the holidays can apply for a one-time fill at no cost. Funded by the team and matched by ownership.

Our giving philosophy

A defined percent of pre-tax profit, every year. Spent locally.

We pledge a defined slice of pre-tax profit to the programs above and to ad-hoc requests from neighbors. We don't accept corporate matches, we don't run silent auctions, and we don't put a ribbon on it. The check clears, the work happens, and we move on.

If you're a La Palma school, senior center, or community organization with a need we could help with, email community@phoenixpharmacy.com — a Phoenix pharmacist reads each request personally.
